Set on the southeast coast of Turkey where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean, the purpose-built beach resort of Icmeler has a distinctly European flavour, with luxury yachts bobbing in the bay and a cosmopolitan crowd of holidaymakers sipping cocktails at the sea-front bars. Icmeler's package-holiday aura is, however, tempered by its scenic setting, with steep hills clad in pine forests plunging into the turquoise waters all around the town. Unlike its close neighbour, the bustling resort of Marmaris just a few miles south, Icmeler has a relaxed village atmosphere, while lacking none of the modern amenities. The resort is scrupulously clean and well maintained, from its regularly raked shingly sand beaches to its litter-free promenade. The town is also resplendent with well-kept gardens, which soften the lines of the dozens of hotel and apartment blocks.
Many activities are available in Icmeler or around the town. Biking, motorbiking, surfing, jet skiing, para sailing, hiking, city tours and mostly sunbathing are very popular however Boat Trips to bays around Icmeler, Marmaris and Turunc are the most favorite excursions. There are also numerous other exciting daily excursions available such as Scuba Diving, Horse Back Riding and Quad Biking.
Shopping: In summer, mini-markets sell imported food as well as a wide range of local produce, including reasonably priced Turkish wines, beer, cigarettes, fruit juices, fruits and vegetables. Essential items such as baby products (powdered milk, nappies, etc.) and toiletries (shampoos, sun lotions, etc.) are available

Icmeler's weekly market offers an array of products including food, drink, clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery. Held every Wednesday, be prepared to bargain!
Nightlife
Içmeler is not a clubbing resort, but there are plenty of bars, disco bars and restaurants. However, those who want a taste of nightlife can take a minibus or taxi to Marmaris. Icmeler's only nightclub is 'Pleasure'.
